Sakura Incubator and Mutations Guide

Sakura Incubator and mutations in Steal a Egg

The Sakura Incubator is a permanent machine in the Cherry Blossom biome that lets you apply mutations to unhatched eggs before they hatch. It is the only source of the Bloom and Spirit Bloom mutations, which multiply a pet’s base income by 1.5x and 3x respectively. This guide explains how to unlock the machine, how the mutation system works, and how to make the most of every Sakura Crystal you collect during the Great Bloom event.

This content is exclusive to the Cherry Blossom biome and requires both a 2.5 billion Speed threshold and a Crane sacrifice to access.

How to unlock the Sakura Incubator

  1. Reach the Cherry Blossom biome with at least 2.5 billion Speed.
  2. Hatch a Crane from a Cherry Blossom egg. The Crane egg is pink with dark purple lines around the middle.
  3. Bring the Crane to the Cherry Blossom Tree at the back of the biome.
  4. Feed the Crane to the tree.
  5. The Sakura Incubator activates permanently.

The Crane is consumed in the process. There is no way to keep the Crane and unlock the Incubator simultaneously—hatch another one if you want both.

How the Sakura Incubator works

Once unlocked, the Incubator accepts unhatched Cherry Blossom eggs from your inventory and mutates them using Sakura Crystals.

Step-by-step

  1. Keep an egg unhatched — the egg must be in your inventory, not placed on a pad or already hatching.
  2. Place the egg in the Incubator — drag or click the egg into the machine slot.
  3. Collect Sakura Crystals during the Great Bloom event.
  4. Charge the Incubator using your collected crystals.
  5. The egg mutates before hatching.
  6. Hatch the mutated egg to discover your result.

You cannot mutate eggs that have already hatched or eggs currently placed on your plot.

Understanding the mutation odds

At 100% charge

MutationChanceIncome multiplier
Bloom97.5%1.5x
Spirit Bloom2.5%3x

Charging above 100%

The Incubator can be charged up to 150%. Higher charge levels improve the odds of rolling Spirit Bloom but do not guarantee it. If you stop charging at 100%, you move faster through eggs but accept the lower average outcome. If you push toward 150%, you spend more crystals per attempt but have better chances at the 3x multiplier.

Average expected multiplier

At 100% charge: (97.5% × 1.5) + (2.5% × 3) = 1.537x

Every roll is worth taking on average, but most results will be Bloom rather than Spirit Bloom.

Sakura Crystals and the Great Bloom

Sakura Crystals are the currency used to charge the Sakura Incubator. The only way to obtain them is through the Great Bloom event.

Event timing

  • The Great Bloom starts approximately every 30 minutes.
  • Each event window lasts about 3 minutes.
  • An on-screen announcement notifies the server when the event begins.

How to collect crystals

  1. Equip your Baseball Bat before the event starts.
  2. Travel to the Cherry Blossom biome early—before the event timer expires.
  3. Hit the special Crystal Cherry Blossom Trees that appear during the event.
  4. Sakura Crystals drop from each tree you hit.

Stay in the biome before the event ends. Traveling there after the window opens cuts into your collection time.

After you unlock the Incubator, a timer above the machine shows the countdown to the next Great Bloom, helping you plan crystal-farming runs without waiting in the biome.

What are Bloom and Spirit Bloom worth?

Bloom mutation

  • Multiplier: 1.5x income
  • Appearance rate: 97.5% of rolls
  • Best used on: mid-to-high tier eggs where the multiplier meaningfully adds income

Spirit Bloom mutation

  • Multiplier: 3x income
  • Appearance rate: 2.5% of rolls (roughly 1 in 40)
  • Best used on: your highest-income eggs—Kitsune, Oni Tiger, Stag, Koi, Snowy Owl

Strategic guidance

Always mutate your best eggs

Because the multiplier is proportional, a 1.5x boost on a Divine pet is worth more than a 3x boost on a low-tier pet. Prioritize Cherry Blossom eggs that contain high-income pets (Kitsune, Oni Tiger, Stag, Koi, Snowy Owl).

Do not rebirth before unlocking the Incubator

The Crane sacrifice is required to activate the machine. Rebirthing before hatching a Crane resets your access to the entire Cherry Blossom progression path. Treat the Incubator unlock as a prerequisite milestone before any rebirth reset.

Use Admin Abuse events for Speed gates

If your Speed is below 2.5 billion, the Saturday Admin Abuse event temporarily boosts Speed, making Cherry Blossom runs viable at stat levels that would normally fail. Watch for these windows when farming your first Crane.

Charge decisions: 100% vs 150%

StrategyProsCons
Stop at 100%Move through eggs faster, lower crystal cost per attemptLower average multiplier (1.537x)
Push to 150%Better odds at Spirit BloomSlower, more crystals per egg

For most players, cycling through more eggs at 100% charge yields better total results than chasing Spirit Bloom on a single egg.

How mutations interact with other systems

Mutations multiply base income on top of:

  • Rarity multiplier — Mythic, Cosmic, Secret, Eternal, and Divine tiers each have progressively higher base income
  • Size multiplier — larger versions of the same pet earn more than standard-sized copies
  • Rebirth bonuses — rebirth luck modifiers do not directly affect mutation rolls but improve the underlying egg pool

A large, mutated Kitsune with Spirit Bloom represents the theoretical maximum income pet in the game.

FAQ

Can you mutate an egg you already hatched?

No. The Sakura Incubator only accepts unhatched eggs from your inventory. Pets that have already hatched or are placed on pads cannot be mutated.

Does the Incubator guarantee Spirit Bloom at 150% charge?

No. Charging above 100% improves the odds but does not guarantee Spirit Bloom. You can still receive Bloom at maximum charge.

How long does the Great Bloom last?

Each Great Bloom window runs approximately 3 minutes. The event starts roughly every 30 minutes.

What is the average result from one Incubator roll?

At 100% charge, the expected multiplier is 1.537x per roll. Most eggs receive Bloom (1.5x).

Should you spend all crystals on one egg or spread them across multiple?

For most players, spreading crystals across more eggs at 100% charge yields better expected value than dumping all resources into a single egg at high charge. Prioritize your highest-tier eggs regardless of quantity.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
