All mutations guide in Steal a Egg

Mutations are special modifiers that multiply a pet’s base income in Steal a Egg. Every mutation applies a different income multiplier, and together they form the upper ceiling of pet value in the game. This guide covers all five mutations, their exact multipliers, where to obtain them, and how to prioritize mutation farming in your progression.

Bloom1.5x97.5%Sakura Incubator
Golden2xVariesFound on map, Fuse Machine
Rainbow2.5xVariesFound on map, Fuse Machine
Spirit Bloom3x2.5%Sakura Incubator

Spirit Bloom at 3x is the highest multiplier in the game. Bloom at 1.5x is the most common Sakura Incubator result. The three map-based mutations—Silver, Golden, and Rainbow—can appear on eggs found in the wild or be produced using the Fuse Machine.

How mutations work

A pet’s total income is calculated as:

Base income × Size multiplier × Mutation multiplier

Mutations stack with rarity and size bonuses. A large, mutated Legendary can outperform a plain Mythic, and a Spirit Bloom version of a Divine pet represents the theoretical maximum income in the game.

Mutations are applied to eggs before they hatch, not to pets you already own. This means the decision of which egg to mutate must be made before you know what is inside.

Silver mutation

  • Multiplier: 1.25x income
  • Appearance: Found on eggs in the wild, or produced via Fuse Machine
  • Strategy: The lowest-tier mutation. Keep any Silver eggs from early biomes as trade fodder or fallback income. Do not prioritize Silver mutation farming over higher-tier options.

Bloom mutation

  • Multiplier: 1.5x income
  • Appearance: 97.5% of rolls at 100% Sakura Incubator charge
  • Source: Sakura Incubator in Cherry Blossom biome
  • Strategy: The expected outcome of most Sakura Incubator attempts. Always worth taking at 100% charge. Best applied to mid-to-high tier eggs where the multiplier adds meaningful income.

Golden mutation

  • Multiplier: 2x income
  • Appearance: Found on eggs in the wild, or produced via Fuse Machine
  • Strategy: A significant upgrade over Silver and Bloom. Golden eggs from Volcano and higher biomes represent strong income boosts. The Fuse Machine is the reliable farming route if wild Golden spawns are too infrequent.

Rainbow mutation

  • Multiplier: 2.5x income
  • Appearance: Found on eggs in the wild, or produced via Fuse Machine
  • Strategy: One of the top two non-Spirit mutations. Rainbow pets from later biomes can rival lower-tier Spirit Bloom results. Prioritize Rainbow from high-income egg pools over early-biome Rainbow eggs.

Spirit Bloom mutation

  • Multiplier: 3x income
  • Appearance: 2.5% of rolls at 100% Sakura Incubator charge (~1 in 40 attempts)
  • Source: Sakura Incubator in Cherry Blossom biome
  • Strategy: The single strongest upgrade available in Steal a Egg. Always apply Spirit Bloom to your absolute highest-income eggs—Kitsune, Oni Tiger, Stag, and similar top-tier pets. A Spirit Bloom on a Divine pet is worth more than a base copy of any other pet in the game.

Average expected income per Sakura Incubator roll

At 100% charge: (97.5% × 1.5) + (2.5% × 3) = 1.537x

This means every roll returns 1.537x the base income on average, driven by the Bloom majority and the occasional Spirit Bloom.

Early game

Focus on Silver and Golden mutations from map eggs and the Fuse Machine. These are accessible without reaching the Cherry Blossom biome.

Mid game

Push toward Cosmic and Volcano biomes for higher-tier Golden and Rainbow eggs. Consider Fuse Machine usage to consolidate multiple pets into mutation chances.

Late game / endgame

Prioritize Sakura Incubator sessions for Bloom and Spirit Bloom. Always mutate your highest-income eggs first. The proportional value of a 3x multiplier on a Divine pet exceeds the total income of most unmutated biomes.

How size interacts with mutations

Size and mutations are independent rolls. A large pet with a mutation earns more than either bonus alone. This means two pets of the same species and rarity can have very different incomes depending on their size and mutation status.

When planning mutations, size is unknown until hatch. The practical implication is that you should mutate your best eggs regardless of suspected size—the mutation multiplier applies on top of whatever size the pet hatches with.

FAQ

What is the best mutation in Steal a Egg?

Spirit Bloom at 3x income multiplier. It is the highest of any mutation and comes exclusively from the Sakura Incubator in the Cherry Blossom biome.

How many mutations are there?

Five: Silver (1.25x), Bloom (1.5x), Golden (2x), Rainbow (2.5x), and Spirit Bloom (3x).

Can mutations stack with size?

Yes. Size and mutation are independent multipliers that stack. A large, mutated pet earns more than either bonus alone.

Can you mutate a pet you already own?

No. Mutations are applied to eggs before they hatch. You cannot retroactively mutate a hatched pet.

Which eggs should you mutate first?

Always prioritize your highest-income eggs. A 3x multiplier on a Divine pet is worth more than a 3x on a Forest common.

How do you get Silver, Golden, and Rainbow mutations?

These three mutations appear on eggs found in the wild or can be produced using the Fuse Machine. The Sakura Incubator does not produce these three.

What are the odds from the Sakura Incubator?

At 100% charge: Bloom 97.5% (1.5x) and Spirit Bloom 2.5% (3x). Higher charge levels above 100% improve Spirit Bloom odds but do not guarantee it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the highest mutation multiplier in Steal a Egg?

Spirit Bloom at 3x income. It comes from the Sakura Incubator and rolls on approximately 2.5% of attempts.

How do you get the Spirit Bloom mutation?

Through the Sakura Incubator in the Cherry Blossom biome. Charge unhatched Cherry Blossom eggs with Sakura Crystals collected during the Great Bloom event.

What is the average result from the Sakura Incubator?

No. Each egg receives one mutation at most. The multiplier shown on the pet after hatch is the final mutation value.

Do Silver, Golden, and Rainbow come from the Sakura Incubator?

No. Those three mutations come from map eggs or the Fuse Machine. Bloom and Spirit Bloom are the only mutations from the Sakura Incubator.
